FAQ

Your oven is an eye-grabbing focal point of your home kitchen. Without it, you can’t make home cooked meals for your family or roast a holiday turkey. If it breaks down, you could lose money not only in potential repairs or replacement costs, but by having to eat outside the home instead of preparing meals in your own kitchen. If it does break down, of course, you’ve got a great resource for oven repair in Manhattan, or in Brooklyn. Along with our knowledgeable staff, we’ve listed some of the most frequently asked questions people have about general oven or range repair. Browse the list and peruse some facts that might answer your questions.

There are a few possible answers to this question. First, you should check the heating element. If it isn’t properly mounted, you should replace it. You should also make sure the oven door is properly aligned to fit the frame. If the door hinge is bent, and the door is improperly aligned, it will need to be replaced. The door should be able to open and close easily. If it gives you trouble, it may need to be readjusted or replaced. If the door doesn’t close properly at all, the latch assembly may not be working and may need to be replaced.
When your oven won’t self-clean, it could be a number of reasons. You should make sure the oven door is aligned properly with the frame. If the door hinge is bent, it won’t align and you should replace the hinge. You should also check the door latch, and replace if it is broken, and readjusting doesn’t work. The door latches could fail, and may need to be replaced, or you can try manually locking the oven door to see if self-cleaning mode will activate.

If replacing the light bulb doesn’t work, you can try checking the internal contacts of the door switches. If they have failed, or are obstructed by the latch assembly, you’ll need to replace them. Make sure all wire connections are tight, and are correctly routed with an ohm meter. If the socket of the light bulb gets overheated, it can wind up damaged and may need to be replaced. Damage can also occur from a previously used bulb, which may have been damaged in the socket and carried over to the new bulb. Replacement is optimal in either case.
